Natural Fabrics

Ladies, this topic is especially harder for us to accept, but it is what it is and HEALTH always comes FIRST. These days, many companies seem to rely heavily on synthetic, man-made materials, since they’re cheaper to make. However, there are still brands that prioritize natural, breathable fabrics. Often, you can get a sense of the material quality from the price—natural fabrics tend to be more costly, but they’re truly worth the investment.

Always Choose Natural:

When it comes to choosing fabrics, what you wear matters more than you might think. Natural options like cotton, silk, linen, wool, and bamboo are popular for a reason—cotton is breathable and widely available (though it’s worth washing and air-drying first due to heavy pesticide use), silk offers a luxurious feel, and bamboo provides a soft, eco-friendly alternative. Linen, probably the most cooling material to wear in the summertime, it’s hard to sweat in true linen, and wool will never fail keeping you warm in the winter time without causing you to sweat, which then leads to feeling more cold.

Fabrics like rayon, viscose, and modal are also often grouped with natural materials since they’re derived from wood pulp, with modal—typically sourced from birch trees—known for its silky texture.

Stay Away From:

It’s important to be mindful of synthetic fabrics such as acrylic, polyester, and nylon. When worn during exercise or in hot conditions, these materials can trap heat against the skin; as your pores open, your body may absorb more of the chemicals embedded in the fabric. Choosing breathable, lower-toxicity materials can make a meaningful difference in both comfort and overall well-being.
